Semi-active networks for the improvement of piezoelectric-shunt control performances
University of Genoa

Prof. Marta Berardengo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical, Energy, Management and Transportation Engineering of the University of Genoa since 2020. In 2016 she received the European PhD in mechanical engineering, working on vibration control of light structures using smart materials at the Polytechnic University of Milan and ENSAM ParisTech. She has been a post-doctoral researcher and assistant professor at the University of Parma until 2020. She serves as Academic editor for Shock and Vibration and is a member of the Topical Advisory Panel of Vibration (MDPI). Her main scientific interest is vibration control with smart materials. Her contribution in this field was recognized by two ASME awards in Modeling, Simulation and Control of Adaptive Systems (2015). Her current research is focused on piezoelectric-shunt for low energy consumption vibration control strategies and on adaptive tuned mass dampers based on shape memory alloys. Dr. Berardengo is also involved in research projects related to the identification of dynamic systems with particular focus on sea state identification, operational modal analysis techniques and human-structure interaction.
