Prof. Stefan Maier holds the Chair in Hybrid Nanosystems in the Faculty of Physics of LMU Munich, established 2018. Prof. Maier is the Lee-Lucas Chair in Experimental Physics and head of the Hybrid Nanosystems Research Group in the Condensed Matter Physics Section at Imperial College London. He further served as Head of the Experimental Solid State Physics Group (2016–2018) and as Director of Postgraduate Studies (2014–2018) for the department.
A graduate with a PhD in Applied Physics from Caltech, Prof. Maier was awarded the Sackler Prize in the Physical Sciences and the Paterson Medal of the Institute of Physics, and the 2020 ACS Nano Lectureship. He held a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award and is a fellow of the IoP and the Optical Society of America. He further is an ISI Highly Cited Researcher in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
